Machon Lev Chess Club Rules:

These Rules are based on my own personal understanding of how this sort of thing should work. If you disagree with any of them feel free to use this posts comment section to run a dialogue about it.

1. Every game is a random outcome (pawns behind the back, flip a coin etc.) unless one player offers the other his choice. (practically speaking this is saying we are not playing white gets to keep playing as white)

2. The winner of the last game has the right to continue to use the board.

3. Black decides where the timer is placed.

4. A move consists of grabbing a piece, moving it to a new location and removing your fingers from it. Touch move must be agreed on by both players before the start of the game

5. A move can only be taken back in non-timed games with the permission of the opponent.

the rule should be touch-move, its important and takes lots of practice!

People have strong feelings about touch move both ways, thats why I feel its best if two players decided before hand if they want to improve their "touch move" skill. I understand that in a tournament setting this is required, but lots of people come to a chess club, just for a casual experience.
